Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She is an American Mexican actress. She also sings. Her mother raised her in the USA she was subject to many racial slurs which gave her feeling of being unwelcome. She began to gain confidence at the age of nineteen when she appeared in an audition. She was praised for her singing. The experience not only increased the confidence of her, but was also a change in the direction of her career. She graduated from the New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. At the age of 23 she began her career making her first appearance on Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films with You've Got Mail. The most notable achievement of her career was with her portrayal of The Lady Of The Lake on Spamalot's initial Broadway production. Not only did she receive the Tony Award, but her performance was also praised by reviewers. The following year, she appeared on the ABC series Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider recognition for it. Alongside having a cult following as a singer, she also released her own solo album as well as an extended version. In addition, she's an activist who fights in the fight for LGBT rights.
